How do you install wallpaper? Is installing DIY friendly?

Wallpaper is totally DIY friendly - just get stuck in and give it a go, I promise you'll surprise yourself. Paste the Wall wallpaper is the most DIY friendly and boasts easy application (and removal). Find our 'How to Hang' video tutorial under Resources. Hanging paper-backed product follows a slightly different method. Paper-backed product is made up of wood fibres which expand once paste or water is applied. Ensure you 'book' the wallpaper and leave to fully relax prior to hanging on the wall. Find more information in our 'Guide to - Application' under Resources.

Where can I find if a product is in stock?

TBC - stock check functionality.

How long will my order take to arrive?

In our Wellington warehouse we hold thousands of rolls in stock for our NZ manufactured product and select imported wallpapers. If your chosen wallpaper is out of stock, we will order this in from overseas, our general ETA is 2-4 weeks from time of order. Find specific ETA details listed on each product. In stock items ship from our warehouse on the same day the order is placed (if before 3pm). Once dispatched standard delivery time for NZ Customers is approx. 2 days. For Australia Customers lead time is approx 3-5 days.

What's the difference between wallpaper and murals/panels?

Wallpaper vs Mural... The main difference between wallpaper and murals is how wallpaper comes by the roll with a repeating design. Usually the roll length is 10.05m. A mural comes in a set size - e.g. 2.5m high x 3m wide. Murals tend to be larger in scale and create more impact. There are limitations if the dimensions don't fit your wall size. If you are struggling to find a mural that will fit your wall, we can create a custom mural to your exact wall dimensions. All 'Hey Poppit' murals are fully customisable by size and scale - just contact our team today and we can create the wallpaper of your dreams.

How can I tell if wallpaper is suitable for my bathroom?

Firstly, we recommend if wallpaper is being installed in a bathroom that the space is well ventilated and you are mindful of your wallpaper coming into direct contact with water. Each wallpaper has a classification of one of four categories from the least durable to the most durable - Spongeable, Washable, Extra Washable, and Scrubbable. For a bathroom we recommend opting for a wallpaper with a classification of Washable and above. Find this information under each product on our website. Once you click onto the product, scroll down to 'Additional Information' and the classification will be under 'Cleaning Properties'.

Can you hang wallpaper directly over wallpaper?

Wallpaper should not be hung directly over existing wallpaper. Before wallpaper is hung on the wall, ensure all existing wallpaper has been removed. For the best results your wall should be free from old wallpaper, and correct preparation steps followed before installation.

What preparation steps are recommended before I hang my wallpaper?

Preparation is key to a great end result that will keep your wallpaper lasting for years to come. Good preparation gives the wallpaper the best foundation to adhere to, minimising any installation problems that may arise. We always recommend all pre existing wallpaper needs to be removed, after removing you can give the wall a light sand. Next seal the wall using an oil or waterbased pigmented sealer. After the sealer has dried you need to size the wall using Shurstik Granulated size (for Paste The Wall and Paper-Backed product), or Latex size (only for Paper-Backed product). Once the size has dried, you can begin installing your wallpaper.

How many rolls do I need for my wall?

Our Roll Calculator is a great tool to work out how many rolls you would be needing. For a rough guideline, if your wall is around the average stud height of 2.4m, you will get four drops to the roll for a random match and three drops to the roll if working with a pattern match. Average m2 coverage per roll is 5m2. Aspiring Walls is always here to offer guidance and assurance when it comes to your wall measurements and how many rolls are required for the space.
